Nepal - Kopan Monastery

The Kopan Monastery, nestled on a hilltop, is a major attraction for tourists for their 10 days Buddhist psychology and philosophy residential course.

It is a mere 45 minutes journey by foot from Bodhnath. Along the way, we passed by open fields dotted with colourful washings from the nearby resident's daily laundry. The route became steeper once we reached the foot of the hill and it is a common sight to see monks and nuns heaving and panting along the steep climb.

The Kopan Monastry has it's fair share of buddhist statues and monuments which had the tourists clicking away on their shutters. There is even a well mowed garden framed by distant unblocked views of the city below, making it the perfect lazing ground for many to while their weekends away.
